I hope hosting service will not ban me for putting CRT educational initiatives in simple words.
This is a draft.
CRT and education
Currently we observe very interesting developments in education, we have HR and Education Administration wave of woke actions based on Critical race Theory, such as:
- destroying excellence programs and elite selective schools if that program has lack of people with specific color
- closing advance programs for the same reason (should repeat): for the lack of people with specific color
- brain wash with guilt, victimhood and privilege learning for kids, that has historical and statistical confirmation
Logic of these actions is following (should I say that I disagree with that wrong narrative?):
- US Educational system is build by white people and for white people
- Whiteness and white success is not compatible with minorities (by whiteness woke consider: scheduling, being on time, objectivity, hard work, home work, excellence etc. I’m not making it up, just look into educational materials from CRT people)
- To help minorities (BTW asians not a minority, they are proxies of white, that is woke description, I’m not kidding) we should destroy current programs and level up all students to give more room for non-whiteness performing kids (an analogy of cutting the grass, not to have anyone above specific level, woke do not like success and smart people)
- If educational programs produce disparities between different skin color people, the cause of these differences is only and only racism of US and whites (and proxies, for example asians), no other explanation needed or analysis is provided, all other evidence and hyposisthes are thrown away. Anything that is done in order to help some specific non-white skin color people is anti-racism and anyone who against it is anti-anti-racist which is considered now being racist. Do not take my words for it, look into CRT methodology and what they push.
Well, there are two things, one thing that I observe and idea that I still discovering:
Observation
I looked up some examples of woke districts in NYC and CA, results of these destructive and critical programs is horrific. They produce looser generation (socially and economically) that cannot read and do math (no wonder, math is racists now, look at VA program to cancel math excellence programs).
They destroy lives of people, they destroy future of bright kids with bad environments and lack of opportunities to learn. This is very very bad in general for individuals (not all, look at my idea below).
Seems like no one cares about actual results, everyone cares about intentions. Just look at the results, it is horrific picture.
Wokeness and CRT is bad for education.
Idea that I still discover
Technically that woke revolution in schools is bad for population, but not all things that bad for population is bad for individuals (evolutionary it makes so much sense, but it is different topic).
What I mean: woke schools can produce even larger/massive amount of loosers (socially and economically) and tiny amount of well educated people, in that sense if your kid will be the latter category, the kid will succeed much quicker and produce much much more given that in their generations they will have to compete less and they need to compete only with older generation of winners.
Last sentence can be true only if you as parent will commit enough of resources, not to contra woke education, but give more context, more historical references, provides opportunity to see and learn.
I really think that you can do it and your kid will be much much more engaged in these things and will be able to navigate and make sense than majority of people. To put that idea in short sentence: I think exposing person to wrong ideas and giving tools to debate for good ideas can produce a complete new phenomena and better prepared personality to discover our complex world.
What to do?
- to have books in your house about history and human development (world history is important, US education is absolutely terrifying in history, US population does not know world history, everything is US history, like world created 200 years ago)
- to have historical and documentary films in your library, and watch that with your kid: USSR and China history as well, that shows that totalitarian thinking can only destroy etc
- to have philosophical and evolutionary book and literature around the house: Philosophy can help with frameworks of how to think (not what to think) and evolution and biological domain will show our shortfalls and limited mind. And more importantly the path from organic chemistry to the human being
- To have discussion with your kid about simple processes and things that works, about freedom to choice and free market and price mechanism (we use price mechanism in different forms all the time: human preferences is another name for it)
That is what I’m thinking now, it is work in progress
What to do in education for students that fall behind?
In physics we have one of the Thermodynamics laws that states: The total entropy of a closed system is always increasing.
What it means? Systems trend to Disarray, to be in decreased order and in increased chaos. Also it means there are much more ways to make something not to work or to fail, and there are only handfuls ways to make something really work (look at any system: planes, car, computers, marriage, political systems, economy etc. etc. These workable solutions are very limited in numbers). The first sentence of Leo Tolstoy’s novel Anna Karenina is: “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.”
You see, there are much much more ways to fail than to succeed. There are ways that we ALREADY KNOW how educational programs work and do not work. It is not a mystery. The fact that we “still figuring it out” is manifestation of general stupidity of human race and shortfalls of democratic societies (well, this is still better than totalitarian results).
The best thing what US can do in education:
- stop doing in education these things that produce loosers (socially and economically)
- for example recognize that money and financial support is not an issue generally, the most expensive US schools is most horrific US schools now
- stop nonsensical educational programs, stop supporting bad schools, stop limiting parent choice of school
- start doing in education what works, that produce excellence (socially and economically)
- for example more strict rules for students and more time in schools for students that fall behind
- more reading, more math, more time at school not at home for kids that have not good environment at home
- more hard work, less stupid victimhood and privilege learning
- voucher / certificate educational system
These things can help all people (regardless of color or sex or whatever these woke racists focused on).
This is simple, education will became great again if we remove politics from it. We need more smart people to move forward, not less.
